Frequently Asked Questions About Individual Therapy

Not all therapy is the same — and not every therapist is the right fit for every person. At Théla, we use specialized approaches like EMDR and IFS that go beyond traditional talk therapy. If you want, tell us what didn't work before. We'll be honest about whether we can offer something different.

It depends on what you're working through. Some people feel a real shift in 3–6 months. Others benefit from longer support. We check in regularly and adjust as we go — you're always in the loop.

Many extended health plans in Canada cover Registered Psychotherapist services. We offer direct billing to most major providers including Green Shield, Manulife, and Sun Life. We also accept EAP referrals billed directly to your provider. Contact us to confirm your coverage before your first session.

You don't have to. We always start with safety and trust first. With EMDR, you don't even need to talk through the details. We only go where you're ready to go.

You're not. We work with complex presentations — trauma, BPD, emotional dysregulation, and more. If another therapist said you were "too much," we'd like to work with you.
