Hi, I'm Charlie!

Move beyond coping — so you can feel more grounded, connected, and yourself again.

I'm a Registered Psychotherapist offering virtual therapy to adults across Ontario. I specialize in trauma and PTSD, EMDR therapy, ADHD and neurodivergence, nervous system regulation, burnout, and relationship patterns.

You may have spent years learning how to cope, push through, stay productive, or make sense of what you've experienced. And yet, your body may still react as though something is wrong — even when part of you knows you're safe.

My approach goes beyond simply understanding why you feel the way you do. Together, we can work with your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and nervous system so that change isn't only something you understand intellectually — it's something you can begin to experience.

You might be here because...

✓ You understand intellectually what's happening, but knowing why hasn't changed how you feel.

✓ Something from the past still affects you, even when you know you're safe now.

✓ Your body feels stuck in stress, shutdown, hypervigilance, or overwhelm.

✓ You have ADHD or identify as neurodivergent and feel exhausted from trying to function in ways that don't fit how your brain works.

✓ You're carrying experiences you've learned to survive but haven't had the opportunity to fully process.

✓ You've become very good at coping — but you're ready for something beyond simply getting through the day.

You don't have to keep using all your energy just to stay afloat.

Areas of Expertise

Trauma & PTSD

Trauma isn't only about what happened in the past — it's also about what your mind and body continue to carry afterward.

You might experience intrusive memories, triggers, hypervigilance, emotional numbness, avoidance, difficulty trusting others, or reactions that feel much bigger than the situation in front of you.

Charlie provides trauma-informed therapy that helps you understand these responses without judging them. When appropriate, she incorporates approaches such as EMDR, parts work, attachment-based therapy, and somatic strategies to help you process experiences that may still feel unresolved.

ADHD & Neurodivergent Support

Living with ADHD or a neurodivergent brain can mean spending years being told to try harder, become more organized, stop procrastinating, or simply be more disciplined.

Therapy doesn't have to become another place where you're expected to perform.

Charlie provides ADHD and neurodivergent-affirming therapy that works with your brain rather than against it. Therapy may explore executive functioning, procrastination, emotional regulation, overwhelm, masking, burnout, relationships, self-esteem, and the impact of years of feeling misunderstood or “not good enough.”

You do not need to become less neurodivergent to build a life that works better for you.

Nervous System & Somatic Regulation

Sometimes you understand exactly what's happening — but your body hasn't received the message.

You might notice chronic tension, shutdown, panic, restlessness, dissociation, hypervigilance, difficulty relaxing, or a sense that your nervous system is constantly preparing for something to go wrong.

Charlie integrates nervous-system-informed and somatic approaches to help you notice what's happening inside your body, understand your patterns, and gradually build greater capacity for regulation, safety, and connection.

Stress, Burnout & Physical Symptoms

Chronic stress and burnout can affect far more than your mood.

You may feel exhausted but unable to rest, overwhelmed by responsibilities, emotionally depleted, disconnected from yourself, or frustrated that your body seems to be telling you to stop when your mind insists you need to keep going.

Therapy can help you explore what's driving the cycle — including perfectionism, people-pleasing, over-responsibility, ADHD or neurodivergent burnout, trauma responses, and difficulty recognizing your own limits.

Relationship & Family Patterns

Sometimes the patterns causing the most pain didn't begin in your current relationship.

You may notice yourself becoming anxious about rejection, shutting down during conflict, taking responsibility for other people's emotions, struggling to set boundaries, or repeatedly finding yourself in familiar relationship dynamics.

Charlie uses an attachment-informed and trauma-informed approach to help you understand where these patterns came from while developing new ways of relating to yourself and others.

Identity, Life Transitions & LGBTQIA+ Affirming Care

Major life transitions can bring questions that don't always have simple answers:

Who am I now? What do I actually want? Which parts of my life still fit me?

Charlie provides an LGBTQIA+ affirming, culturally responsive, and neurodivergent-affirming space for exploring identity, sexuality, relationships, belonging, career transitions, family expectations, and other periods of significant change.

Therapy isn't about deciding who you should become. It's about creating enough space to understand who you already are.

EMDR Therapy With Charlie

Sometimes talking about an experience helps you understand it — but doesn't change the way your nervous system responds to it.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a trauma-focused therapy designed to help the brain process distressing experiences that may continue to feel emotionally or physically “stuck.”

Charlie may incorporate EMDR when working with trauma, PTSD, distressing memories, triggers, negative beliefs, and experiences that continue to activate strong emotional or nervous-system responses.

EMDR isn't about forcing you to relive everything that happened. Therapy begins with understanding your needs, building appropriate preparation and regulation skills, and determining together whether EMDR is a good fit.

The goal isn't to erase the past.

It's to help the past feel more like something that happened, rather than something your mind and body are still experiencing as though it's happening now.

ADHD Therapy That Works With Your Brain

If you have ADHD, you've probably already heard plenty of advice about planners, routines, discipline, productivity, and “just getting started.”

The problem isn't necessarily that you don't know what you're supposed to do.

Sometimes the difficulty is getting your brain and nervous system to cooperate.

Charlie takes a neurodivergent-affirming approach to ADHD therapy. Rather than treating ADHD as a collection of behaviours that need to be corrected, therapy explores how attention, executive functioning, emotions, relationships, sensory needs, nervous-system regulation, and past experiences interact.

Together, you might work on:

  • Executive functioning and task initiation
  • Procrastination and overwhelm
  • Emotional regulation
  • Rejection sensitivity and self-criticism
  • Masking and people-pleasing
  • ADHD and neurodivergent burnout
  • Relationships and communication
  • Building strategies that actually fit your brain

Therapeutic Approaches & Modalities

Working with both what you understand and what your nervous system continues to carry.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR is a structured, evidence-based approach that helps your brain reprocess distressing or traumatic memories so they no longer feel as overwhelming or "stuck" in the present. Using guided eye movements, we help move memories from a place of raw, unresolved pain into something you can recall without being flooded by it. It's often used for trauma and PTSD, but can also support anxiety, grief, and deeply rooted negative beliefs about yourself.

Nervous System / Polyvagal-Informed Therapy

This approach is grounded in the understanding that your body is always responding — not just to what's happening now, but to what has happened to you in the past. Rather than only talking about what's distressing, we work directly with your nervous system, building your ability to notice when you're activated or shut down, and to guide yourself back to a sense of calm and safety. Over time, this creates more choice in how you respond to life's challenges, instead of getting stuck in old survival patterns.

Neurodivergent-Affirming Trauma Care

Trauma care that assumes a "typical" brain and body can miss — or even harm — neurodivergent clients. This approach honours how ADHD, autism, and other forms of neurodivergence shape how you experience emotion, regulation, sensory input, and relationships, and adapts care accordingly rather than asking you to fit a standard mould. The goal isn't to change how your brain works — it's to help you heal from trauma while feeling genuinely understood and accepted as you are.

Body-Mind / Somatic Approaches

Somatic therapy recognizes that healing isn't only a thinking process — it also lives in the body. Rather than staying purely in reflection and conversation, this work incorporates body awareness, breath, and physical sensation to help release what's been held in the body and support its natural ability to heal. This can be especially powerful for trauma, chronic stress, and physical symptoms that haven't fully resolved through talk therapy alone.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS is an approach based on the idea that we all have different "parts" inside us — like the part that protects you by staying busy, the part that shuts down under stress, or the part still carrying old pain. Rather than trying to get rid of these parts, we get curious about them, understand what they're trying to protect you from, and help them work together instead of against each other. This can be especially helpful if you feel like you're constantly in conflict with yourself, or stuck between "knowing better" and still reacting the same way.

Attachment-Based Therapy

Attachment-based therapy looks at how your earliest relationships shaped the way you connect, trust, and feel safe with others today. If you notice patterns like fear of abandonment, difficulty trusting people, pulling away when things get close, or always needing reassurance, those patterns often trace back to how your attachment needs were met — or weren't — early in life. This work helps you understand those patterns and build a more secure, grounded way of relating to yourself and the people in your life. Content

I often describe our work like tending a garden with an invasive plant taking root. Top-down work is trimming what's visible — the coping tools. Bottom-up work is digging out the roots. We do both, so the garden has room to breathe and bloom again.

Nervous-System-Informed Care

Therapy isn't limited to changing thoughts. Charlie pays attention to what's happening in your emotions, body, relationships, and nervous system — particularly when insight alone hasn't created the change you're looking for.

Neurodivergent-Affirming

You don't need therapy that constantly asks you to become better at appearing neurotypical. Charlie works collaboratively to understand how your brain functions and build approaches that fit you.

Holistic, Intersectional Lens

Mental health doesn't exist separately from culture, identity, relationships, neurodivergence, sexuality, family expectations, physical health, or the environments we live in. Therapy makes room for the whole person.

Cross-Cultural, International Background

Charlie's international and cross-cultural experiences inform a therapeutic approach that remains curious about how culture, migration, family expectations, identity, and belonging shape the way we understand ourselves.

Unique Background in Breathwork

As a certified freediving instructor, I spent years teaching people how to control their breath and calm their nervous system underwater — training that directly inspired my move into psychotherapy. That hands-on understanding of breath and the mind-body connection now shapes how I help clients build the same skills in the therapy room.

Evidence-Based, Body-Led Healing

Charlie's approach brings evidence-based psychotherapy together with an understanding of the nervous system, helping clients work with both cognitive insight and embodied experience.

Beyond the Therapy Room

Nature has been one of Charlie's greatest teachers. Outside of sessions, you'll usually find her hiking, wandering through forests, spending time with animals, travelling, or simply slowing down enough to reconnect.

She brings that same appreciation for curiosity, presence, and connection into the therapy room.
