Veterans
Psychotherapy.
Support for what you have carried—and for what comes next.
Military service can shape how you experience safety, relationships, identity, and life after service. At Théla, psychotherapy offers space to explore these experiences without pressure to explain everything at once.
Individualized, trauma-informed psychotherapy with Théla’s clinical team, with care matched to your concerns, preferences, and therapeutic goals.
Care grounded in dignity, collaboration, and choice.
Therapy that makes room for the whole person.
Veterans may seek psychotherapy for many reasons, including service-related experiences, transitions to civilian life, longstanding patterns of stress, or concerns unrelated to military service. Your experiences are not reduced to a diagnosis or a single event.
Together, we identify what feels most important to address, establish practical strategies for safety and emotional regulation, and determine whether deeper trauma processing is appropriate.
Support for complex experiences.
Trauma & PTSD
Distressing memories, hypervigilance, avoidance, nightmares, and experiences that continue to affect daily life.
Identity & transition
Changes in purpose, routines, work, relationships, and sense of self during or after military service.
Emotional regulation
Working with anger, anxiety, emotional numbness, overwhelm, or difficulty feeling settled.
Relationships & connection
Navigating trust, communication, intimacy, boundaries, and disconnection with loved ones.
Grief & moral distress
Making space for loss, guilt, shame, conflicting values, and experiences that are difficult to put into words.
Complex or co-occurring concerns
Exploring overlapping difficulties, including dissociation, neurodivergence, and persistent patterns of distress.
There is no single right pace for healing.
Therapy does not require you to recount difficult experiences before you feel ready. We begin by understanding your goals, your strengths, and what helps you feel grounded.
Explore what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, and the context of your experiences.
Develop coping strategies, grounding skills, and ways to respond to stress outside the therapy room.
Depending on your clinician, needs, and readiness, therapy may incorporate approaches such as EMDR, IFS-informed parts work, EFT, DBT skills, or somatic strategies.
Support relationships, identity, daily functioning, and meaningful goals beyond symptom reduction.
Find the right therapist for you.

Appointments may be offered virtually, with in-person options subject to availability. We can discuss whether Théla is an appropriate fit and the next steps for getting started.
Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) coverage: Funding or reimbursement depends on your individual eligibility, approved benefits, and any applicable authorization requirements. Please confirm your coverage with VAC or your benefits administrator before assuming that sessions will be covered.
Théla is an outpatient psychotherapy clinic, not an emergency or crisis service.
Do I need a PTSD diagnosis to seek therapy?
No. Veterans may seek support for a wide range of concerns, whether or not they have a PTSD diagnosis.
Will I have to describe traumatic events in detail?
Not necessarily. Therapy is paced collaboratively, with attention to stabilization, readiness, and informed choice.
Can EMDR be part of treatment?
Yes, with clinicians who offer EMDR, when clinically appropriate. Not all Théla clinicians provide EMDR; treatment plans are individualized.
Does VAC automatically cover appointments?
No. Coverage and authorization depend on your benefits and circumstances. Confirm eligibility and payment arrangements before booking treatment.
Can I book directly?
You can begin by viewing Théla’s booking page to explore available clinicians and appointments. Any funding, referral, or authorization requirements should be clarified before treatment begins.
