Sylvia Chan is an award-winning artist, Ontario Certified Teacher, and emerging Art Therapist dedicated to empowering her clients through creative expression and narrative healing. She holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and is currently completing a Master’s Level Diploma in Art Therapy at the Canadian International Institute of Art Therapy.
Sylvia brings a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strength-based approach to her art therapy practice. Her work focuses on identity exploration, emotional regulation, resilience-building, and reclaiming personal narrative, particularly for youth navigating complex life experiences. She integrates symbolism, mixed media, and reflective processing to help clients externalize emotions safely, build self-awareness, and reconnect with their inner strengths.
As an Art Therapist, Sylvia creates safe, non-judgmental spaces where individuals can process experiences that may be difficult to verbalize. She believes art is not simply creative expression, but a powerful therapeutic tool for integration, empowerment, and transformation. Her approach emphasizes choice, autonomy, and collaboration, ensuring clients feel seen and respected in their healing process.
