Théla Psychotherapy Clinic welcomes practicum students from accredited and recognized graduate-level counselling and psychotherapy programs whose training requirements align with our clinical setting.
We are not limited to one institution and regularly review applications from students enrolled in a range of Canadian programs.
Programs We Commonly Accept From
We have experience supporting practicum students from programs such as:
- Yorkville University – Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP)
- Humber College – Addictions & Mental Health Programs
- University of Waterloo – Master of Social Work (MSW)
- Wilfrid Laurier University – Master of Social Work (MSW)
- City University - Master of Counselling Program
- Canada Christian College - Master of Christian Counselling
- Other recognized Canadian counselling or psychotherapy programs
Students from other institutions are encouraged to apply. Program eligibility is assessed on a case-by-case basis to ensure alignment with our clinical model, client population, and ethical standards.
Program Compatibility Criteria
To be considered for placement, students must:
Be enrolled in a graduate-level counselling, psychotherapy, or social work program
Have practicum requirements compatible with outpatient psychotherapy services
Be eligible to work with adult clients (18+)
Be comfortable providing services in a 100% virtual / remote setting
Secure an external clinical supervisor approved by their academic institution
Important Supervision Notice
Théla Psychotherapy Clinic does not provide internal or on-site clinical supervision for practicum students.
Students are fully responsible for securing their own external supervisor
Supervisors must meet the requirements of the student’s academic program
Confirmation of supervision arrangements is required prior to placement
