UNDERSTANDING BPD WITHOUT SHAME
Your experiences deserve understanding, not judgment.
Living with BPD can involve emotions that shift rapidly or feel overwhelming, fear of abandonment, difficult relationship cycles, or uncertainty about who you are. These experiences can be painful and confusing—but they do not define your worth.
Living With Intensity offers a structured, compassionate way to understand what may be happening beneath your reactions and practise responding with greater awareness and choice.
Understand your emotional system
Explore emotional intensity, the nervous system, attachment, and protective responses without reducing yourself to a diagnosis.
Recognize your patterns
Map triggers, escalation, abandonment alarms, and the thoughts and feelings that can take over in difficult moments.
Respond with intention
Develop regulation, communication, repair, and self-understanding skills through guided exercises and reflection.

These are the six parts of the actual manuscript, organized to help you move from understanding your experiences toward making more intentional choices.

MORE THAN READING
Learn it. Notice it. Practise it.
Chapters combine explanations with examples, step-by-step skills, guided exercises, workbook pages, real-life practice, and reflection prompts. Some sections invite you to bring what you notice into therapy.
This is a comprehensive workbook, not a quick-fix checklist. You can move slowly, revisit a chapter, or set aside an exercise that does not feel right for you.
Use the table of contents to find a chapter that speaks to your current experiences.
Pause, take breaks, and return to an exercise when you feel ready.
Practise one small skill or reflection at a time, rather than trying to change everything at once.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Before you begin
Is this workbook specifically for people with BPD?
Yes. Living With Intensity was written to explore experiences commonly associated with Borderline Personality Disorder, including emotional intensity, abandonment sensitivity, relationship patterns, shame, and identity. It is not a diagnostic tool.
Is this a DBT workbook?
The workbook includes practical emotion regulation and coping skills, but its scope is broader than a standalone DBT skills guide. It also explores attachment, relationships, self-understanding, shame, and identity.
Do I need to work through every chapter in order?
No. The six parts build on one another, but you can revisit sections and move at a pace that feels manageable. The workbook encourages you to prioritize safety and stabilization over completing exercises.
Can I use it alongside psychotherapy?
Yes. The workbook includes prompts for material you may wish to explore with your therapist. It is educational and does not replace assessment, individualized treatment, or a therapeutic relationship.
Will I receive a printed book or an EPUB?
The initial edition is planned as a digital PDF. A printed edition, separate worksheet PDF, and EPUB reading edition are not currently confirmed.
Does purchasing include therapy or crisis support?
No. Purchasing the workbook does not include psychotherapy, personalized feedback, or crisis support.
A note about safety: Some exercises may bring up difficult emotions. You can pause or skip any activity. If you are in immediate danger, contact emergency services. In Canada, call or text 9-8-8 for suicide crisis support, available 24/7.
