I work with adults who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or simply unsure of how to move forward. Together, we might explore patterns that no longer serve you, build practical ways to manage difficult emotions, and reconnect with your strengths, values, and sense of purpose.
Virtual therapy available across Ontario. Affordable rates through Théla's practicum program.
Hi, I'm Patricia
My interest in becoming a therapist was shaped in part by growing up close to a loved one who struggled with their mental health. I remember how difficult it could be to know what to do or how to help, and how easily uncertainty could become surrounded by shame or judgment.
That experience stayed with me and helped shape the kind of therapist I strive to be: someone who can sit alongside people during difficult or uncertain moments with compassion, curiosity, and respect. I believe feeling genuinely heard and understood can be an important first step toward change.
My approach begins with connection. I aim to create a warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental space where you do not need to arrive with everything figured out. I can be structured when practical tools or direction would be helpful, while also making room to slow down, reflect, and explore what matters most to you. Together, we can make sense of what you are experiencing and work toward changes that feel realistic, meaningful, and aligned with your values and who you are.
A little about me personally: I'm originally from Brazil and have built my life in Canada. That experience has made me especially mindful of how culture, language, immigration, family expectations, identity, and belonging can influence the way we understand ourselves and our mental health. I do not assume that my experience is the same as yours. Instead, I bring cultural humility and genuine curiosity into the room so that the parts of your background and identity that matter to you can be understood in your own context.
You Might Be Here Because...
- You feel like you're constantly overthinking, and your mind won't quiet down even when nothing's actively wrong
- You're going through the motions, and things that used to matter don't feel like they mean much right now
- You're in the middle of a big change — a move, a relationship, a new stage of life — and you don't feel like yourself yet
- You feel stretched too thin, and it's starting to affect your sleep, your focus, or your patience with people you care about
- You keep ending up in the same relationship patterns and aren't sure how to break them
- You're navigating two cultures, two languages, or two sets of expectations, and it's hard to feel fully understood in either
- You want to talk about this in the language that actually feels like yours
- You know something needs to change, but you're not sure where to start
Areas of Focus
Anxiety Therapy
Anxiety can make your mind feel constantly busy, as though you are always anticipating what might go wrong. Together, we can explore the thoughts, situations, and patterns that keep anxiety going while building practical strategies to respond differently. My goal is not simply to make anxiety disappear, but to help you feel more grounded and less controlled by it.
Depression Therapy
Depression can show up as sadness, low motivation, irritability, disconnection, or a sense that things have lost meaning. I offer a space to understand what may be contributing to how you feel without reducing your experience to a label. Together, we can identify small, realistic steps toward greater connection, self-understanding, and engagement with what matters to you.
Life Transitions Therapy
Changes in relationships, work, family roles, identity, immigration, or other stages of life can leave us feeling unsettled even when the change is expected or chosen. Therapy can give you space to process what you are leaving behind, understand what this transition means to you, and move forward with greater clarity and intention.
Stress Therapy
When stress builds over time, it can affect your emotions, concentration, sleep, relationships, and sense of balance. We can look at both the immediate pressures you are facing and the patterns that may be making them harder to carry. I integrate practical coping strategies with reflection on boundaries, expectations, and the ways you care for yourself.
Relationship Challenges Therapy
Relationships can sometimes leave us feeling misunderstood, disconnected, or unsure of how to communicate what we need. You may find yourself struggling with boundaries, navigating conflict, or adjusting to changes within an important relationship. In therapy, we can explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion, helping you better understand your needs, communicate more effectively, and make choices that feel aligned with your values.

What Makes Working With Patricia Different
Cross-Cultural and Bilingual Perspective
I am originally from Brazil and provide therapy in Portuguese and English. My experience of building a life in Canada contributes to my sensitivity to immigration, cultural adjustment, belonging, and family expectations, while I remain curious about what those experiences mean uniquely for each client.
Experience Across Mental Health Settings
My professional background includes work within a major mental health hospital, community crisis support, and supervised psychotherapy settings. These experiences have strengthened my respect for the intersectionalities of people's lives and the importance of meeting clients without judgment or assumptions.
Warmth With Practical Structure
I value a genuine, person-centred therapeutic relationship while also recognizing that some clients appreciate practical tools and direction. When helpful, I integrate evidence-informed strategies and reflection so that what we explore in session can support meaningful change outside of it.
Beyond the Therapy Room
Before and alongside my psychotherapy training, I have worked in mental health environments that exposed me to different parts of the care journey — from helping people access services and navigate referrals, to supporting individuals in crisis-oriented and clinical settings. These experiences have shaped my belief that asking for help should not require someone to be at their breaking point. They have reinforced the importance of accessibility, clear communication, cultural responsiveness, and seeing each person as more than a diagnosis or a set of symptoms.
Affordable Therapy: Cost of Working Together
While completing her practicum at Théla, Patricia offers eligible clients up to 12 sessions at no cost, followed by $20 per 50-minute session, where continued therapy is appropriate and available.
This is part of Théla's broader Affordable Therapy Program, which pairs clients with supervised practicum student therapists.
Frequently Asked Questions About Working With Patricia
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin exploring what brought you to therapy. You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what to say or having clearly defined goals. We can start with what feels most important to you and work together to understand what you would like to get from therapy.
That's completely okay. Some people come to therapy with something very specific they want to work on, while others simply know they have been feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unlike themselves. Part of our work together can be understanding what has been happening and identifying where you would like things to feel different.
Yes. I provide therapy in both Portuguese and English. For some clients, being able to express emotions and experiences in their first language can make therapy feel more natural, particularly when discussing family, relationships, culture, immigration, or experiences that can be difficult to translate.
If You're on the Fence
Feeling comfortable with your therapist matters. You don't have to know immediately whether I'm the right therapist for you. Our first conversations can give you a sense of my approach, allow you to ask questions, and help us determine whether working together feels supportive and aligned with what you're looking for.
A Note on Immediate Support
Patricia is a student therapist working under clinical supervision, and this service does not provide crisis or emergency intervention. If you are in immediate danger or require urgent support, call 911, visit your nearest emergency department, or call or text 9-8-8 (Suicide Crisis Helpline, Canada).
