Evee is one of the therapy dogs at Théla Psychotherapy Clinic — a Bernedoodle who brings warmth and lightness into a room the moment she arrives. When appropriate, she may be part of in-person sessions to support connection, comfort, and emotional regulation.
Her role is playful by nature, but purposeful by design. Evee isn't there to entertain — she's there to make the space feel a little safer and a little less heavy.
A Little About Evee
A cheerful, friendly presence who takes her welcoming duties very seriously. She'll likely be the first to greet you at the door — tail wagging, ready to lead you straight to her office like she owns the place (because she kind of does).
Once you're settled in, Evee will make her way to you for a proper introduction, which typically involves requesting pets. After that important business is handled, she'll find her spot — beside you on the couch, curled up on the floor, or keeping watch by the door — and simply be with you.
Her playful, warm energy makes her a natural fit for teens, neurodivergent individuals, and those navigating severe anxiety. She has a gift for lightening the room without overwhelming it, offering companionship that feels easy and undemanding.
When she's off the clock, Evee is a completely different kind of busy. You'll find her sprinting off-leash at the park, romping with other dogs, or locked in a very serious pursuit of a squirrel. At home, her hobby of choice is excavating the backyard in search of walnuts — a passion project she pursues with great dedication and zero apology.
Evee’s Role in Therapy
When clinically appropriate, Evee may join select in-person sessions as part of an animal-assisted approach to care. For some clients, her presence offers something words can't always reach:
- A sense of warmth and ease in the room
- Reduced social pressure and self-consciousness
- Gentle encouragement toward connection and openness
Including Evee in sessions is always a collaborative decision — discussed in advance, never assumed.
What Sessions with Evee Are Like
Evee will greet you like she's genuinely glad you came — because she is. Once the hellos are out of the way, she'll settle nearby and follow your lead entirely.
There is no expectation to interact with her. Some clients find that her easy, cheerful energy helps them relax into the session. Others simply appreciate having her in the room. Both are completely valid.
Comfort, Choice, and Boundaries
Your Comfort Comes First
Animal-assisted therapy at Théla is:
- Optional and never assumed
- Offered to adult clients only
- Always discussed and agreed upon in advance
- Flexible — it can be adjusted or discontinued at any time
Evee's wellbeing is monitored throughout the day. If she needs a break, she steps out. If at any point you feel unsure or uncomfortable, sessions continue seamlessly without her.
Animal-assisted therapy isn't the right fit for everyone — including those with allergies, a fear of dogs, or a simple personal preference — and that is always fully respected.
